Oral Medications That Can Re-grow Thinning Out Hair
There are several different orally administered medicines that can help re-grow thinning hair, and Propecia is an orally administered drug containing Finasteride. Finasteride was originally prescribed under the name Proscar, which was developed to treat enlarged prostates in men. Doctors and researchers noted that over time, men with thinning hair began to regrow some hair, particularly in the crown area, and the thinning of the hair was slowed significantly. The medicine was reformulated to lower the dosage and sold under the brand name Propecia. It is important to note that Propecia is for men only and even though it is encased in a protective film coating it should not in any case ever be handled or ingested by women who are currently, or intend to get pregnant in the future because of the risk of birth defects particularly in male fetuses. Dutasteride, comparable to Propecia Finasteride, is prescribed to treat benign prostate enlargement. Avodart is the brand name for Dutasteride and has also been shown to slow hair thinning and promote hair growth. However, at this time it has not yet been approved by the FDA as a hair loss treatment.

The severity and types of side effects vary greatly between individuals. The most common complaint include symptoms, such as sexual dysfunction, decreased libido, and, rarely, even impotence. Many doctors prescribe Viagra, or Cialis to overcome these sexual symptoms that some of the patients develop. It has, however, never been conclusively proven that the sexual dysfunction is caused by the product Propecia. Some patients refer to drug as hair loss itchy scalp Propecia, but this is a side effect that normally occurs before the medication exerts its full effects on hair growth. Other patients have complained that frontal hair had thinned within first month on Propecia, but again this appears as a normal reaction to changes in hair growth cycle, as a consequence of a working drug. Overall, most doctors are convinced that Propecia is safe to use for most men, along with being highly efficient in reducing hair loss.
